A few observations; Bob-Nob, Jay Pinho, and Cheryl were the only ones
who nailed two divisions exactly right. Freddy's win was due to his
consistancy...he had only the AL West right, but was very close in
every other divison. Yours truly was the only one to pick the tricky
AL Central correctly. No one got the NL East right...in fact, most of
us got our asses kicked there (Mitchell Aster and Steve Souza came
closest). For what it's worth, the consensus picks of the Baseball
Prospectus gang would have earned them a 21!

1. RULES: submit to redsoxmonthly@aol.com (DON'T POST to the ng) the outcomes of the six division races, 1-6 (or 1-5, 1-4 as the case may be). At the end of the year, I'll tally the results and declare the winner based on overall accuracy. All entries must be received before the first pitch of the first game (hey, and the Mariners start early in Japan, right?)

2.METHOD: Like golf or STD tag, the lowest score wins. For each place your prediction misses, you're given one point, ie, you pick the Twins for third and they win the AL Central, you get two points.

3. JUDGING: Well, it's simple math. What I'll do is forward each entry to another ng member to verify the entry; Steve Robbins has volunteered to assist, and post the entries on his website for all to ponder after Opening Day. I do this verifying because I want to enter as well, and I don't want to be accused of 'sandbagging' by reviewing all your choices first. Well, little chance of that happening, anyway, I came in next-to-last in 2002.

4. PRIZE: The pride in showing off your superior intellect (an apparent bonus in this ng) and the privilage of having the contest named after you next year; hence, the name of this year's contest!
